Our lives were changed forever when we found out about Lydia's heart defect at our 20-week anatomy scan. Lydia was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) known as a Double-Inlet Left Ventricle (DILV). This is where the right ventricle doesn't form, and both atria dump blood into the left ventricle instead. Lydia needed three heart surgeries to adjust her circulation so that she could live. We are so grateful to the Children's Heart Foundation and to the family and friends who supported us in our journey.

Lydia is now a spunky 9-year-old who loves art, swimming, theatre, and baby sister Olivia! This year, she has started thinking about her heart condition in new ways and realized on her own that without her surgeries, she would not be here. The research that this organization does improves the quality of life and care for kids like her, and I'm so glad we get to walk again this year!
