New England Congenital Heart Walk

Jackson is a thriving nine-year-old who just finished up a season of hockey with his teammates. He plays hard, strives to do his best, and is athletic and smart. When Jackson was born and diagnosed with CHD and huge holes in his heart, we were not sure what his future would hold. We were anxious new parents who were completely overwhelmed and didn't know where to turn. Luckily, the CHD community enveloped us with love and support. We are lucky to live outside of Boston and have access to the country's most incredible children's cardiac medical care. It is not an overstatement to say that Boston Children's Hospital and Dr. Christopher Baird saved Jackson's little life seven weeks after he was born by performing open heart surgery. We are thankful to the CHD community, the live saving research and support that the CHF provides, and we walk in remembrance each year of the Heart Angels that live in their family's hearts forever. As many of you know, our son Jackson was born with an extremely large VSD and multiple ASD's, large holes in his heart that put him into congestive heart failure when he was born. It took us 7 weeks of feeding him around the clock for him to gain one pound and be large enough to go on bypass for open heart surgery. Countless doctor's appointments, tons of tests and blood draws, culminating with a massive surgery on his tiny body, and yet, we are so grateful. Grateful that he is now a thriving 9 year old who loves hockey and his friends and family. Grateful that he is here to be an incredible big brother. Grateful that he runs, jumps, and doesn't stop moving, all while not being out of breath. And grateful for the CHF community, research and funding that made it all possible. We hope to pass on that support, love, and financial assistance to other heart warriors, and we walk in honor of heart angels. Thank you for your support!
